Fantasy Friday: Chaos Sorcerer

oh joy oh joy, it's friday again. Time for another episode of Fantasy Friday. March has been a month in which I showed off all the Ogre Kingdom Maneaters I painted on commission so let's show something different this month.

April, the month of CHAOS!!

Today I show you the Chaos sorcerer and familiar I painted about a year ago.  I like the deep reds and think they work well with the gold. The model itself is pretty good, it has a lot of deatail and interesting angles. I painted the lower body of the familiar as a snake popping out of the undergrowth and the top half the same as the sorcerer.

Fantasy Friday: Empire Mercenary Maneater

I have been looking forward to the end of this week so much. You might have noticed that things went very quiet here on my blog. The reason was that my 6 months old son got ill and also passed it on to me last sunday. With hardly any sleep in the past week and many runs to the toilet I didn't get any work done at all. Hence the missing Wednesday W.I.P.

But now things are looking up again and my son sleeps through the night again and I'm feeling much better myself today. It's a shame I missed my monthly gaming day at the club but I did manage to get my 200 points Kill Team fully painted. I'll get another topic on that up later.

Then without further much ado, Here's the Empire Mercanary Maneater from the Fantasy army Ogre Kingdoms. If you look closely that there's a baby Gnoblar on his head hiding behind the feathers and he's holding a piece of a statue in his hands as a weapon. Look at the 3 fists holding that hammer. I never noticed it before un till I got the miniature in my hands.

So this was the last maneater I painted, if you want to have a look at the other ones I did then have a look here: for the Pirate maneater, Paymaster maneater, Ninja maneater. Next week something completely different again.

Fantasy Friday: Maneater Ninja

Yeah! It's friday again! The end of the week and also another episode of Fantasy Friday!

In the past two weeks I showed off the Ogre Kingdoms Maneater Pirate and Paymaster and today we are continuing our tour in Ogre land with the Maneater Ninja.

I painted these fellas up for a client and he gave them to me already assembled and undercoated so i have no idea where all the weapons and equipment went that was supose to go on his belly. I found this the hardes maneater to paint because it's a striking figure but very bare. I tried my best making it look interesting and good.

Next week is the last of the maneaters that I will shocase here at Fantasy Friday and after that maybe some Chaos, Empire or Vampire counts.

Fantasy Friday: Maneater Paymaster

I always feel great posting Warhammer Fantasy stuff. You want to know why? Because it's Fantasy Friday of course and that means the end of the week is here!

Today I'm showing you an Ogre Kingdoms Maneater Paymaster. This is one of the 5 maneaters that are available and I have painted 4 of them. Last week I showed you the Pirate and I'm not sure what I'm going to do next week. Do you want to see more maneaters? They are great models full of detail. This maneater has again a Gnoblar on his shoulder counting on his abacus. I certainly had fun painting this for my client.

Well that's it for another fabulous Fantasy Friday, the sun is shining and the weekend nearby. I hope to get some hobby time again this weekend and I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Fantasy Friday: Maneater Pirate

Ok, It's the end of the week again. I'm getting ready for the weekend and I have loads of painting time to look forward to. The stars have aligned in the exact right order for me to get 8 hours of unbothered painting tomorrow. Yeah baby!

This means that today is FANTASY FRIDAY! today I'm going to show you a commission i did about half a year ago. It's an Ogre kingdoms Maneater, the pirate that is. There are about 5 different maneaters available in the Ogre kingdom army and my client gave me 4 of those to paint.

So here's the first one in line. I went with nice and vibrant colors that contrast with the ogre's skin tone. It's full of detail and I think the Gnoblar on his shoulder dressed up as a parrot is a classic! I customized the base by using coffee stirring sticks to stay within the pirate theme.the picture is not the best quality but the model is nice enough for me as it is. Result, one very happy client.

Fantasy Friday: Chaos Ogres

A while back I got some ogres of a member of my gamingclub as a gift for painting up his Ogre Kingdoms Army. I thought I could use them for my Chaos Army and so after some conversions this was the result. Most people comment on how good they look when they're on the table completely ignoring the rest of my army. lol.

The conversions are quite small and subtle and you would probably only recognize all the work that went into them if you have ever put some ogres together yourself. A lot of weapons were switched from left top right handed and a lot of extra small details added like the horns, arrows, armour plates,... I also made the banner interchangable with a large weapon so I don't have to take the banner in a WYSIWYG game.

I don't like the look of the "official" Chaos ogres so I'm even more proud and happy with the way these turned out. The only thing I'm not happy with is the free hand on the banner. I really need to sit down again and do that again.

Fantasy Friday: Giant

Last week I missed the Fantasy Friday due to a ton of work that I had to get finished before the weekend. This week I'm trying to make it up to you by posting lots of pictures of one of my favourite models that I have painted.

I present to you: "Langors the Chaos Giant". Now you might think that he looks nothing like the typical chaos giant but that's because I don't like that model and so I tried to make him look as a regular giant with chaos bits added. The fluf behind this fella is that he was captured and held prisoner in the city of Praag by the empire soldiers. Then when the city of Praag was sacked by the forces of chaos he joined their ranks. You can still see the shackles and chains around his neck that once kept him a slave. He also made a pair of fancy trousers from the emperial flags.(see detail) He also picked up some shields and now uses them as armour plates. It's not a lot of conversion work but I really like this model as it is.I think this is one of the best models GW has ever made with all the extra bits you get to customize your giant.

In these pictures you can see the giant roaming the borders in the north looking for unsuspecting peasants. It's more a showmodel then that I actually use him on the table very often. Giants are a bit of a hit or miss factor and if you're not carefull a pretty big point sink or risk to any of your own army standing too close.

Cheers,

Fantasy Friday: Changeling

A new feature that I'm adding to my blog is the "Fantasy Friday". Although I have a 40K army and I'm even building a new army I also have quite some Warhammer Fantasy models. My gaming club is running a Fantasy campaign which is a lot of fun so for the last few months I have been busy getting to grips with that gaming system. Fantasy and 40K are so different in all aspects. Magic is the best example of that. 40K is more straightforward and easier to understand IMHO even if it has a lot of tricky rules of it's own.

This is the Changeling model that was released last august (I think). When I saw this model advertised in the WD I immediately knew I had to have it. I really like the way the light plays with the cloth. This would be the perfect figure for my Warriors of Chaos army, The sorcerer of Tzeentch.

I like the way it turned out. At first i thought I was going to be original and come up with my own paint scheme but I really like the way it was painted by the gamesworkshop studio so I copied most of it and only changed a few details.
